Caphosol has been shown to have an impact on the incidence and severity of OM with lower rates noted in both chemotherapy and radiation patients at high risk of developing OM. By using Caphosol to reduce the incidence and severity of OM as an integral part of cancer therapy, resources and costs may be significantly reduced26,28,43

The consequences of OM include increased hospitalisations, more frequent and longer use of analgesics, anti-infectives and liquid diets, IV hydration and/or TPN, and interruption of the cancer therapy. Management of OM adds significantly to the overall cost of the individual cancer therapy15,34,42
